Millvina Dean

Titanic Survivor
Born February 2, 1912

dean

Now this is my true definition of the word "Legend". Millvina Dean was the youngest passenger aboard the Titanic as she embarked on her maiden voyage from White Star Line berth 44 Southampton England April 10, 1912. Millvina Dean was just nine weeks old and the "darling" of the ship. Everyone who wished got to hold her for three minutes - the line was long.

This beautiful lady still resides in Southampton and still enjoys 4:00 tea time with friends, fans and visitors. She's still full of fun and fire at 93 and does occasional personal appearances with her loyal assistant Bruno Nordmanis who handles her bookings and travel arrangements. Bruno is suffering with back spasms lately and now uses a cane occasionally. He is a wonderful man and reminds me of Nigel Bruce from Sherlock Holmes.

Millvina cooked special vegetable dinners for me at her home during the week I spent in Southampton with them. The TV cameras were rolling during a downpour on October 14, 1998 at the Maritime Museum just a short distance from berth 44 across the road. The rain didn't keep her fans away as they watched her sign the Tablecloth. Millvina's mother's maiden name was Light and from the same area my Grandfather's father was from in Ireland. Millvina and I decided we were cousins.

A hug and kiss on the cheek as I departed for St. Louis. Millvina Dean still remains one of my very favorite people. A true classic lady.
